From the mind of writer/director J.F. Lawton (Pretty Woman, Under Siege, DOA: Dead on Arrival) comes Jackson.

Jackson was a multi-award winner at the 2008 SoCal Film Festival (Best Actor, Best Feature, Best Director).  It was also the winner of the Audience Choice Award at the Lakedance Film Festival and screened and awards at many other festivals worldwide.

“This is going to be the best day of your life!” Donald (Barry Primus) promises Sam (Charlie Robinson). This seems unlikely, given that both are homeless men mired in the bleak landscape of Los Angeles’ Skid Row. Moreover, the source of Donald’s optimism is a mere $20 bill (a Jackson) which he skillfully bummed off a passing businessman (Steve Guttenberg). But Donald, a modern day Don Quixote, vows that with it they can go anywhere and do anything.  He drags the reluctant Sam off in search of great adventure.

A brutal abduction goes horribly awry when a middle-aged kidnapper falls in love with his teen victim.

Walter, a middle-aged ex-con, partners up with the unstable, Franklin. They kidnap a 16-year-old girl, Tennessee. While awaiting the ransom, Walter falls for Tennessee, which drives a wedge between him and Franklin.

“Trap” is a dark, gritty story about loneliness and the lengths people are willing to go to combat it.

Walter, a middle-aged ex-con fresh out of jail, has been consumed by guilt over his leaving his family behind when he went to prison. Out now, he tries to re-establish a relation with his only living relative, his meth-additcted daughter Tori.

Tori wants nothing to do with Walter and to get rid of him hooks him up with a kidnapping scheme, headlined by the volatile Franklin.  Franklin appears nervous and unstable, but there’s more than meets the eye there.

Franklin and Walter take delivery of Tennessee, the 15-year-old kidnappee, and hold her until the ransom is paid. This plan goes to hell, when Walter falls in love with Tennessee.

Does she love him as well, or is she just using him to escape Franklin?

A story of isolation, loneliness, loyalty and violence, “Trap” reveals the darker side of human nature.

One of them shows a violent home video that reveals a dark secret and the group spends the rest of the weekend struggling to confront their friend.  This revelation exposes the true nature of their friendship, as does the befriending of an unhinged local man where they are staying.

Celebrated artist Caroline Valley is dead.

Her body was found on her remote farm, where she apparently committed suicide by drowning herself in a dam. Her Will stipulates that her considerable fortune is to be divided amongst her surviving loved ones.

Only one of them is related to her – Isobel Pitcher, the daughter she gave up for adoption twenty years ago.

When Isobel came looking for her birth mother, Caroline welcomed her. But Isobel found Caroline’s somewhat unusual lifestyle distasteful. When she informed Caroline she wanted nothing further to do with her, her birth mother revealed she comes from one of only forty families in the world that carry the Fatal Familial Insomnia gene.

Fatal Familial Insomnia (FFI) causes the sufferer to completely lose the ability to sleep. There is a fifty percent chance that Caroline could carry the FFI gene. And a fifty percent chance that Isobel could also.

Infuriated and deeply horrified, Isobel swears to have nothing to do with Caroline ever again. Until the day Detective Inspector Aaron Decker comes to her home to inform her of Caroline’s suicide. She is named in her birth mother’s will and stands to inherit a portion of her fortune.

But Dt. Decker isn’t the only one to visit Isobel about the artist’s death. John Avis, Caroline’s business manager, comes to Isobel’s house with startling news. He believes her mother was murdered to prevent her from investing her fortune into a cure for FFI.
